I was determined this week, now that the wedding dash is over, to get caught up on that darn flashing reminder of my procrastination .....
Yes, I am doing the Craftsy Block of the Month and yes, I know I am two months behind. I completed January but February and March got away from me. Now it's April and of course you don't need to remind me that May is right around the corner.
I dug out my fabric today and got to crackin'. I will share with you the completed blocks in my next blog post but today it's WOYWW #149 over at Julia's blog and it's always so much fun to share my progress...ok, my mess...with all the other crafters from all over the world who join in for What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday!
You can see I REALLY am diving into my blocks. That pile of fabric is just waiting to be sliced and diced.
Over at my machine lies a pile of strips ready to become the block for March....SIGH...yes, I know it's April.
I have to admit, I am a chop it and drop it kind of crafter. It's shameful. I am trying very hard to change. As you can see I at least am getting close to the trash can. Most of the mess is in the general vicinity of the trash can and I consider that to be a huge improvement in my crafting behavior......it does concern me though, that I may be stifling my creativity worrying so much about where my scraps fall. :)
I'm going over to Julia's now to share these bits and pieces with a whole bunch of other crafty people. Some more messy than I...if that's possible!
Yes, my floor looks just like yours when I sew and lately, i have paper bits everywhere on the floor! So long as I have a space to work on, who cares about the floor. lol needlewings#52
ReplyDeleteYou definitely are worrying too much - about scraps and about being behind...gotta go with your flow gal, or they'll just be forced and contrived pieces huh! Let;'s face it, procrastinator or not, once you're in the flow, you could probably do all 12 blocks in a session!
ReplyDeleteWell what are floors for, I ask you? Just get a bigger trash bin if you really are worried.... bet you aren't! It is more important that you are creating something worthwhile. I know lots of tidy people and they don't make a mess and they make nothing else either!
ReplyDeleteLove the wedding pics..... magic.
Love joZarty x
reckon you just need a bigger bin :)
ReplyDeletehave a fab crafty week and
happy woyww

It looks like you are having lots of fun!
ReplyDeleteLOL Suzie, at your target practice on the bin - love the 'chop it, drop it' description too. Look forward to seeing your finished blocks idc xx
ReplyDeleteThanks for already coming to see my desk this week
Sherry - WOYWW #73
Lol my desk maybe tidy but my floor never is, I drop too! Take care, enjoy WOYWW snooping! Love Zo xx 75
ReplyDeleteHi Suzie my floor would look like yours to except I have a rather large young retriever who thinks he is a hoover! If I didn't keep a lid on my bin I think he would empty it for me!! Happy WOYWW Helen 35
ReplyDeleteIt's just so much easier to chuck it on the floor and then sweep up after!
ReplyDeleteHappy woyww!

Ha! Your floor rings a bell. I try to get my trimmings and threads in the bin but so often fail! I just have a grand old tidy up at the end!!
ReplyDeleteHugs, LLJ #3 xx
I love working with fabric - and just touching it!!
ReplyDeleteooh I like your chopper dropper philosophy, and is that a proper Oak table? it has a lovely golden grain...

thanks for visiting me earlier
Chop and drop. I like it, it's catchy! Nice busy workspace, TFS Cindy #67
ReplyDeleteDo Not worry I think most creative people are " chop and drop"
ReplyDeleteor "paste and discard the waste"
or " paint and try not to faint"
... wait that makes no sense at all.
I paint and make a big mess with all my paper towels that get used wipe-ing the brushes and palette knives on. we can always clean up when the project is at a break time or finished for the day.
I found your blog from the title, it's something I say all of the time. "Bloom where you are planted." I enjoyed my visit and look forward to more.
ReplyDeleteI'm a chop and drop crafter too xo
Chop it and drop it, hahahahahaha! That really made me laugh! I have my issues, sometimes my trashcan is SO full I have to STAND in it to smoosh the trash down and make room for more, all because I'm just too lazy to take the bag out. Seriously.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you're in a major creative and production flurry. Good for you - can't wait to see the end result! I'm not a quilter so am unfamiliar with the challenge, but good luck. Thanks for visiting my woyww today. woyww#62
ReplyDeleteWooohoooooo for creativity (and the mess it also creates)!!! Keep choppin' and droppin', Suzie, because that means something great lies ahead!

I love the mess serious creative flurries leave behind! But I worried too much about my floor, as well...silly of us! lol Anyhow, I got a cute, already lined, little basket and sat it right on my desk(my sewing one that I haven't shown off on WOYWW yet) and now I drop my scraps easy-peasy right into it! When it fills up I dump it in the bigger bin and the floor stays pretty tidy now. Mostly. :)

great looking desk and it looks like it is seriously creative. Quit sweating the small stuff and just go with the flow. IF it upsets you it will keep you from doing what you really want to do. Thanks for sharing and thanks for visiting my desk this week. Have a great week. Vickie @106
ReplyDeleteI think the scraps on the floor just indicate masses of creativity activity!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my place.
Enjoy WOYWW :D Neesie #12
Let the scraps fall where they may! You can always pick them up later... they'll wait for you. I admire you spirit to go back and do the blocks for the months that have passed rather than just start now. I'm impressed!
ReplyDeleteNot messy - creative!! Material and sewing - I'm impressed - I can sew a button on and thats about it! Thank you for visiting my desk xx
